Gergometer came into being as a low-fi paper-based way of tracking progress within an iteration. The first paper manifestations of Gergometer occurred during the summer of 2002 while on contract at a Minnetonka, MN based technology company. Our team leader/mentor wanted a way to track our progress during the iteration. Greg Kondrasuk took it upon himself to provide a way and Greg did not disappoint. What resulted was ingenious -- a progress bar list of each story, updated with the daily progress.
What Greg did not realize was his immortalization into the open source community. The paper-based manifestation was affectionately tagged the "gergometer" in honor of Greg (the team lead had a problem with spelling Greg, often spelling it Gerg. The rest is history). Greg, Jason, and I came up with the idea of turning it into a full-fledged open source project, due to its utility on our project. Hopefully you find it helpful for your project too.
